From Desktop Folder, if I open OpenOffice, then click Templates.. , Then Label and try open a label, it crashes. If I open Writer, then new document, and try to create a Label it crashes. There is a window that pops up stating that the file saved and that it crashed. There is NO file because I wasn't able to create one. For example, the keyboard shortcut for the "Search and replace" dialog is CTRL+B in spanish, and the "Edit" menu shows that, but pressing CTRL+B will switch bold text on/off instead. The problem that I see is that the system writes every second 3-6 lines with the following text: "Unable to enumerate USB-device on port 2" and I see also less frequently the following text: "New high speed USB device, using ehci_hcd and address xxx ( xxx varies from 2-127,going upwards and cycling around). I see these messages by booting up, but also during normal operation in /var/log/warnings regardless whether an USB device is connected or not. Installation was made to /dev/sde2 which is a partition on one of the internal disks. Grub menu.lst has correspondingly root=/dev/sde2. So far so good. However after reboot the harddrive with root filesystem is detected as /dev/sdi and obviously booting fails because the root fs can't be mounted. Manual update of root= in /boot/grub/menu.lst from /dev/sde2 to /dev/sdi2 fixes the problem, on the other hand the installer left the system unbootable which is certainly wrong. My guess is that during installation the drivers for SCSI controllers are loaded in a reverse order than in normal boot, leading to different disk names. While this may not be a common problem for desktop users it may certainly hit users of enterprise servers with multiple disk controllers. I didn't want anything already working to be disturbed by a new additional installation. Those deselects included "set active flag". The result was "no operating system found" on first real reboot. Unchecking the active flag box should never mean removing all flags from all primary partitions if Grub or Lilo are not installed on the MBR in place of generic MBR code. In this case, the only touching of any primary partitions was supposed to be simply to mount them. The / target was a logical. A portion of the message on the console is as follows: /usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YaST2.call: line 288: 3109 Killed I was unable to recapture any more of the info as it does not stay on the screen very long. The CD is OK. I was able to install 11.2 RC1 on another system with a Turion 64 X2 CPU using the same disk. Note: The NET install is the only way to install 11.2 on an i586. With this failure, I will not be able to install 11.2 on this machine.
