This has also been reported w/ Ubuntu systems. I have the current R-base and associated packages installed. Also, Cantor is designed to work w/ Sage. While many, if not most, of the components of Sage is available via the "usual and customary" scientific repos, I could not locate Sage via Webpin. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Cantor 2.Choose configure 3.Note missing back-end! Actual Results: n/a Expected Results: An option to use R as a backend. I would think it's possible to simply use "pkcheck --action-id <action> --process <pid> -u <uid>" from the polkit package. Here's a patch that ports smpppd. A search in software manager shows _no_ package installed that requires smpppd. And simply telling me to install smpppd is _not_ the answer. Fix the dependency of it being required when no modem software is installed because no modem exists.
