If I use pulseaudio, the sound is totally overexcited and unusable for some volumes. For example: volume at 6-11%: overexcited and unusable volume at 12%: OK volume at 13-15%: overexcited and unusable volume at 16-20%: OK volume 20% and above (at least to 30%): overexcited and unusable The overexcitation happens in pulseaudio, not the hardware. It is probably the updater applet (the icon in your taskbar) which runs packagekit to check for available upadtes. You can configure it to run with any period you like, or you can disable it completely. After that it waits 1 sec and checks again. If packagekit is not busy doing something (like downloading metadata or installing packages), this will cause it to close and zypper will continue. Next planned thing to improve is to get rid of the global zypp lock so that zypper can continue even if another zypp app is running in case of read-only operations like 'search' or 'info', etc. > Additionally, I sometimes find that a non-existing pid is named in the error > message. The Screensaver crashes and after a while you get access to the desktop without a password. Tested with KDE 4.4 Opensuse 11.2. When re-starting pidgin after the update it prompts to initialize gnome-keyring (once for each account!). Rejecting that apparently makes it read the passwords from the accounts.xml file where it normally stores them. On quit it prompts again for the keyring stuff. Rejecting that again results in no password stored at all. At that point the passwords are wiped from accounts.xml ie lost. Select "Appearance" tab 5. Select (e.g.) "Classic" Theme 6. Drag (e.g.) theme's "Important" column to '1st position' 7. Change column's visibility to default == visible 7. Click OK to save Actual Results: No changes in display occur -- i.e., "Important" column is NOT in first position. After KMail restart, repeating steps above, in Appearance tab, changes have reverted to default.
