User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.0)
Gecko/20100115 SUSE/3.6.0-1.2 Firefox/3.6
Hi, I just discovered that in my 11.2 x86_64 FF 3.6 did not work with any Java
pages, for example the ILOM port of my Sun V40z servers. There was no Java
showing up on about:plugins. I had both Javas installed, openJDK as well as
Sun. As soon as I deinstalled openJDK, about:plugins showed a Java plugin, and
I see my ILOM pages again.
Now I do the "zypper patch", where I get a lot of patterns-openSUSE-something
updated from 11.2-20.22.1 to 11.3-1.1.1 (is this a feauture?), and among other
small files the both packages I just deinstalled are there again. And boom! -
no Java plugin in Firefox, no looking at the ILOM indicators.
Now I have to deinstall them via YaST, where I can mark them as "never install
this!" so it won't bother me again...
Unfortunately, Opera recognizes the Java environment, but does not cooperaty
with any of those (openJDK, Sun), so I can't even switch the browser for
looking at those pages...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update Firefox to 3.6 from the mozilla repository
2. start FF, open an new tab with URL about:plugins OR look at Extras -> AddOns
-> Plugins: no Java; looking at pages containing Java does not work
3. rpm -e java-1_6_0-openjdk-plugin-1.6.0.0_b16-5.10.1.x86_64
java-1_6_0-openjdk-1.6.0.0_b16-5.10.1.x86_64
4. step 2 again, but: Java plugin is there; pages containing Java are back to
work
Actual Results:
After I removed java-1_6_0-openjdk-plugin and java-1_6_0-openjdk, FF showed the
Java pages again. Apparently, the openJDK plugin confuses FF. This I can say
because the reinstallation of openJDK as dependency by some "patterns-opensuse"
brings FF 3.6 back to "I don't work with Java" :-(
http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/firefox_newplugin.xml may explain why.
Expected Results:
I do not need openJDK since I have Sun's Java installed. I do not want openJDK
because it does not cooperate with FF 3.6. But I do not see how to declare this
as an installation dependancy...

The licence I get to see during installation of openSUSE 11.3 in German
contains the following problems (some of these also occur in
http://de.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Lizenz):
- Bestimmungen gewährt (double space)
- EIGNUNG FÜR EINEN BESTIMMTEN ZWECK occurs twice in the same sentence.
- BZW. DER UNFÄHIGKEIT (double space)
- DEN MAXIMAL ZULÄSSIGEN BETRAG. This seems like an incorrect translation, the
English is: LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED. This should be something
like: MAXIMAL BESCHRÄNKT. or MINIMAL ZULÄSSIGEN BETRAG.
- Furthermore, it uses the wrong kind of quote signs. Either ‘’ and “” or the
proper German „”.

Installing from DVD, i choosed my user to autologin into the DE.
This is the default option.
After installation, i'm prompt to Login manager where i have to login manually.
cat /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager | grep AUTOLOGIN=
DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN=""
as you can see, no autologin has been set, i can manually edit this value to
have autologin working as supposed.
if that matter, i choosed LXDE as Desktop Enviroment. That use LXDM as Login
Manager that support autologin and default session reading sysconfig infos
because it has been patched.
coolo told me on irc that yast2 probably have an hardcoded list of login
managers supporting autologin... if this is the reason, please add lxdm on that
list.

The back-end configuration in Cantor does not include R. This has also been
reported w/ Ubuntu systems.
I have the current R-base and associated packages installed.
Also, Cantor is designed to work w/ Sage. While many, if not most, of the
components of Sage is available via the "usual and customary" scientific repos,
I could not locate Sage via Webpin.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Cantor
2.Choose configure
3.Note missing back-end!

An option to use R as a backend.
Since the reason many people are interested in Cantor is for a GUI for R, this
is a pretty significant issue.

Port to PolicyKit 1
smpppd uses the old PolicyKit, but this is nearly only via a call to
"check-polkit-auth <uid> <privilege> [pid]".
I would think it's possible to simply use "pkcheck --action-id <action>
--process <pid> -u <uid>" from the polkit package.
Here's a patch that ports smpppd. I'm really not familiar with smpppd, so I'm
unsure how to be 100% sure it's okay.
