In lots of other cases (examples: enable IPv6 AND disable IPv4, specify a different port, bind the agent only to an specific IP address) we would still have to modify the agent configuration file. The recommended way to enable IPv6 is to use the configuration option "agentaddress" in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf: agentaddress udp6:161,udp:161 So, I apologize but I'm closing this one as WONTFIX. That being said, this bug report made me think of some improvements for the future and I'm looking forward to discuss them in new bugs: - Should we enable IPv6 by default in net-snmp? - Should we have a configuration option in sysconfig (ie, SNMPD_PARAMS) to make it easier for us to pass command line parameters to the agent? I also, without thinking much about it, told YaST's partitioner to "create a mountpoint" for this device. Later on I cancelled the format operation, as it took too much time. When trying to start the system the next time, booting always stopped when mounting the devices in /etc/fstab, as it insisted that a fsck would be necessary on the external harddrive. This failed as the superblock was not available (quite plausible, as the harddisk was no longer connected, but trying to reconnect in further boot trials didn't help either). Therefore the system only booted into the console maintenance mode. Restoring was only possible by removing the stale entry for the external hd from /etc/fstab. I don't know if it is expected behaviour to make the system unbootable because of entries in /etc/fstab which are not available at the moment. Even if they are obviously not relevant for the system. But as formatting an external hd is something even non-experienced users will do now and then with YaST, I think this should not happen.
