But you can play with gnome_url_show() via the python bindings: import gnome gnome.init("bla", "bla") gnome.url_show("file:///home/vuntz") If I do that inside gdb, and put a break point, I can see: (gdb) print argv[0] $19 = 0x8193898 "nautilus" (gdb) print argv[1] $20 = 0x8193da8 "--no-desktop" (gdb) print argv[2] $21 = 0x818dab0 "file:///home/vuntz" This doesn't contain the quotes. A gentleman named Pedro, posting in Bug 502557, seems to confirm the concerns that this was not just a Dell issue in that he confirmed that this bug occurs on his Sony Vaio (Model VGN-SZ5XN) running OpenSuSE 11.1 X86_64 with 4GB of RAM with PCMCIA based U740 Merlin 3.5G data card. More importantly, he stated that "I tried with kernel 2.6.31-rc3 from kernel.org and it works perfectly."
