The kernel update resulted in a menu.lst without entries and a non existing initrd. Yes I'm using KMS for my intel chipset gpu. I've modified /lib/mkinitrd/scripts/setup-modules.sh to get my initrd, but I'm not happy with this workaround. With kernel-default-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64, the audio works as expected. However, with kernel-desktop-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64, there is no audio. Alsa seems to be running, and programs such as mplayer don't complain about a missing audio device; they happily play mute. I've checked the mixer settings and they're fine. I also checked the YaST2 Sound Configuration and the sound card seems to be correctly detected and configured. Let me know what other diagnostics are required and I will gladly provide them. It unloads almost once per second. The harddrive is only about a week old and already has a Load_Cycle_Count of above 40000. Disabling the harddrive powermangement (hdparm -B 255 or hdparm -B 254) has no effect on this it seems. Only keeping the disk busy prevents it from unloading. Find the output of hdparm -I and smartctl -a attached. Actual Results: After trying s2ram -f my laptop successfully suspend to ram. But when I press power button, It start rotate fan, just like it should be almost done, and than it shut down. No screen, no blink, just black all the time and than shut down. After shut down. I press power button and system hangs. Manually power off. Also, dvd-ram-control says dvd-ram-control -rdwr /dev/cdrom The disc is unprotected already. So, although the disc appears to be unprotected, and 'mount' says it is mounted rw, it is in fact mounted read only. Either 'mount' should say it is mounted 'ro' or you should be able to write to it. Neither is the case, which is a bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put DVD RAM with UDF filesystem in drive. 2. mount -t udf -o rw,noatime,async /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom 3. touch /media/cdrom/a Actual Results: The 'touch' command fails, but should not. Expected Results: A file /media/cdrom/a should be written. Re-making the file system on the DVD with mkudffs --media-type=dvdram /dev/sr0 fixes the DVD-RAM and 'touch /media/cdrom/a' succeeds.
