During kernel development, I had copied a .config from linux-2.6.* to my home, which consequently led to a variety of weird errors in KDE4 (-> "major" problems like print failing silently). None of them gave a slightest hint to the real cause, which is my point here. I'm uncertain whether this is limited to akonadi; feel free to adapt appropriately. This prompted my to give a name and description, and then created the project. Ofter than 'osc branch' worked. This is particularly strange as I have managed to create a "home:neilbrown:Factory/nfs-utils" some weeks ago via the 'build' web site when just experimenting. So something already existed. For example, right now, there are three packages from openSUSE:Factory that are stuck in this state for 23 hours: epplet-base, fnlib, libbonobo. When clicking on the build log, I only get "No log available." There is no information printed to any log files. A few other comments: 1. Happens on three systems, including both 32-bit and 64-bit 2. Occasionally the window won't crash and the orf preview will be just a solid gray image, but it crashes most of the time. It appears raw thumbnailing is broken. 3. No crash occurs if there is already an existing preview (say created when image was opened in GIMP using gimp-ufraw. 4. If an orf file is on the desktop, Nautilus will go in to an infinite loop of crashing and restarting. Is there a way to disable just raw file previews in nautilus, as a temporary workaround? So far, I have to disable all previews, which is not acceptable. NOTE: the "raw-thumbnailer" package is not installed. Installing it does not seem to help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open a folder containing olympus .orf files in Nautilus, that's it. 2. Occasionally won't crash but most of the time will. 3. Actual Results: Nautilus window closes immediately. If orf file is on desktop, Nautilus will enter infinite loop of crash-restart Expected Results: Display the folder properly Please note if there is a way to disable just raw previews in Nautilus as a temporary workaround. Arguments, ideally, should be in 'variables' in sysconfig. (I think of this of the equivalent of using numbers in programing vs. defined constants...generally not a great idea). 2) consistancy w/man page on how daemon runs: daemon man page (xfs(1)), says that if xfs is given the '-droppriv' argument, it will drop it's privs and try to run as "user.group" = "xfs.xfs'. Why shouldn't it do that by default? Instead, someone put it in the global user&group 'nobody' (now considered a common security vulnerability when multiple daemons all run in the same user and group). The install package should create the group: groupadd -r xfs and the user and group, preferring uid=gid (reasoning is multi-variate and too much to go into here, but it's of low pain/difficulty, raises security and can make life simpler later on -- especially if _all_ services install like this...). useradd --preferred-uid=$(grep /etc/group|cut -f3 -d: ) -r -g xfs xfs (or if you want to just try it and give an error on fail:) useradd -uid=$(grep /etc/group|cut -f3 -d: ) -r -g xfs xfs (depending on the 'collision', the "-o" switch might be accpetable -- i.e. if it is another service, unlikely to create any cross-chatter with xfs...but generally might be better to move "xfs's" group to a clear location). Now the rcscript shouldn't have to remove /tmp/.font-server and recreate it. Instead, it should (to be safe), check permissions -- if owned by xfs.xfs, then it _could_ check permissions to see it's not writeable by 'other' (but that can be a setting in /etc/permissions). If it does exist, to be safe, it should rename it to ".fontserver.user.group.mtime" (whatever user/group owns it with it's last mod-time. That should avoid any dangerous collisions and avoid potential data loss -- not to mention NOT, disturbing, any user-run 'xfs' font-server already running (if xfs uses relative pathnames after 'cd'ing to it's "home dir").). Wouldn't work windows, but we aren't on windows...:-). 3rd issue: a 'clarity issue') Even though parts of the X literature refer to it as the 'font server', the choice of "/var/log/fs-errors" seems poor. perhaps "xfs-errors", or better, "XFontServ-errors" (or more easily discernable as what the log belongs to). The machine is a kvm instance. Beim Start mit der VGA - Auflösung oder textbasirte Install. sieht man nach dem Kernelstart einen Screen voll acpi-Meldungen die bei folgenden Eintrag abbrechen: 0.188001 [< ffffffff8100d6ca child_rip+0xa/0x20>] Habe bios geflasht, DVD auf dem Notebook getestet und opensuse 11.2. ohne Probleme installieren können, dann das Gleiche mit 11.2. milestone7 probiert - selber Effekt. Am berteffenden Rechner habe ich alle bisherigen Suseversionen installieren können. Suse puppet package maintainer has added a zypper provider (good thing). The zypper provider uses "-y" option to install software in non interactive mode (good too). But if I install a new repository via puppet and I install some packages from it the installation fails because zypper refuse automatically the gpg key. The option --no-gpg-checks should be added to let puppet do its work. Obviously the system administrator checks the gpg key in separate testing server so he is sure that the packages are not infected when he then does mass install with puppet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.add a new repository via puppet. 2.install a package using puppet. Actual Results: puppet refuse key and then it does not install package. BTW zypper produces a lot of logs. Because puppet tries forever the installation (due to zypper failing) it quickly fills /var/log blocking suse.
