In this case, the inode numbers of the chroot directory can be the same as the inode number of /. After update the "openSUSE Updater" tells that there are no further fixes to install. Next time booting the boot process is *very* slow without starting X. Using the install dvd and updating the installation there are 8 or 9 packages to be installed (and none to delete or update). Then the computer will boot correctly. Conversely, when I pressed control it would (and the light would be a meaningful & helpful indication of my caps state).
