On SLES10, as far as I can see, /sbin/dhclient-script never even evaluates $new_ntp_servers.(On openSUSE 10.3 it pointlessly writes the content of the variable to /var/run/ntp/servers, which never gets picked up anywhere.) I agree with the customer that failing to set this parameter is a bug, especially as dhcpcd handles it correctly. It just tells Error 23: Error parsing number. The reason for this is, that with the kernel update, the syntax for the root entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst has changed. Before the update, it used: root (hd0,1) After the update, it just failed with: root (/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_SAMSUNG_HM160HCS12TJD0PB99656-part2,1) I still can boot this system by changing this entry back to (hd0,1). Note: although this system has a software raid, the system disk is not attached to this raid. In fact, the system disk is no SATA disk at all. This is just a PATA disk. After booting the system, the id from menu.lst is available in the system and it pretends that there was a SATA drive. If this test fails, the PPD is not accepted and a popup like ------------------------------------------------------------------ Error: No Suitable PPD File Downloaded Checking file "foo.ppd" foo.ppd: FAIL .. [OK] ------------------------------------------------------------------ is shown to the user (see src/modules/Printerdb.ycp). There is no way that the user can force YaST to accept it nevertheless. Instead of only a [OK] button there should be two buttons [Cancel] and [Continue] (with default [Cancel]) so that the user can force YaST to accept it nevertheless. Background information: Since CUPS > 1.2.7 (i.e. since openSUSE 10.3) cupstestppd detects errors in UIConstraints and/or NonUIConstraints. Many PPDs (in particular PPDs for PostScript printers from printer manufacturers) fail now because of such errors. See bug #309822: When this bug is fixed, cupstestppd would no longer result zero exit code for such errors. >From version to version cupstestppd detects more and more errors. In the long run the PPDs should be fixed but as far as we know there have been no problems because of such errors so that it should be o.k. to let PPDs pass even if they are not strictly compliant.
