When I unlock the screen, it prompts for a password and accepts it. Then, a new popup comes up which reads "Permissions on the password database may be too restrictive". With kernel newer than 2.0 is ifconfig obsolete network configuration tool. But a lot of distribution (maybe all) have this tool still in their repository. In ifconfig manpage should be information about this ifconfig obsoletion. I am attaching patch which will add this information into manpage WARNING: Ifconfig is obsolete on system with Linux kernel newer than 2.0. On this system you should use ip. and print message (to stderr) ################################################# # WARNING: ifconfig is obsolete on this system. # ################################################# if you try to use ifconfig. But asked operation will be maked. There is a support for checking if there is some external sound "device" plugged (headphones, speakers, external amplifier etc.). But this is done only when the option model=laptop is forced to /etc/modprobe.d/sound. Then you will get an expected laptop behaviour -- mute internal speakers when external is plugged.
