I've worked some months without problems with this USB stick. One day, I noticed that, when I was copying files to the stick, some of the files where not copied at all, others where on the stick of 0kB size. Finally, I have now this problem: - I plug in the USB stick and the usual window pops up (screenshot1.png), but it's not the icon of the mounted USB stick but of the unmounted. - When I open in Konqueror, then no file is displayed (screenshot2.png) - but there are files on the stick. - When I want copy files to the stick, I get an error message (screenshot3.png). The command "ls /mnt" shows nothing - no directory there. The same stick is working fine on 11.0 alpha 2 on the same computer. (I'm not shure about the right component to choose for this issue. (use minimal text installation pattern) open it --> select VSFTPD --> a popup asking me to install SUSEFirewall2 package is showing.. why is that ? I assume an FTP server can be run without SUSEfirewall, right ? ;-) most of other yast modules just says "SUSEfirewall is not installed" or something) and let you continue to work without any problem.. System boot setup fine however the support for the HPT366 controller is not loaded, after aborting setup and using linuxrc to load kernel drivers "pata_hpt366" with on prams set (I haven't the clus of what to type there) system tries to load drivers and locks. Our testers have tried many methods to get the bootsplash functional, but as yet, no luck. We can't find anything wrong in the boot logs, and as far as we can tell bootsplash is being run, just no splash. We have tested uninstalling bootsplash and trying splashy, but splashy isnt even being started. Our splashy tests show that it is working, but won't fire up at boot. We have xubuntu 7.10 on another machine, and using usplash, has a functional bootsplash. I have attached as much info as possible to see if anyone can help. But I cannot use it -- for example when I download 500MB from the net, I get an error stating writing error. Then I can check this manually -- for example: touch x.x joe x.x I press enter (just to get one character) save -> joe crashes If I free some space by deleting a lot of small files (or one big, but this is not interesting) and even if the sum of those files does not make the difference (for example 1000 files, 10MB total) then I can save 500MB file. It failed with an error message that no harddrive was found for Installation. The german error message is: "Es wurden keine Festplatten für die Installation gefunden. Bitte prüfen Sie Ihre Hardware." Of course there is a virtual Harddisk configured in VMWare. I had already an openSUSE 10.2 installed there. Clicking on the column header now sorts the items displayed, but sort order is binary not alphabetical. Consider testfile containing: cat testfile Abc abc bcd BCD Bcd BcD 123 4bb 3nn zyp bte 654 987 234 Ber Reg GGv GGG ggg ggV then cat testfile | sort 123 234 3nn 4bb 654 987 Abc BCD BcD Bcd Ber GGG GGv Reg abc bcd bte ggV ggg zyp which is a binary sort enforced by setting RC_LC_ALL to C in /etc/sysconfig/language What I ( and most probably the majortity of useres ) would prefer is an alphabetical sort order as cat testfile | sort 123 234 3nn 4bb 654 987 abc Abc bcd Bcd BcD BCD Ber bte ggg GGG ggV GGv Reg zyp As sort --help points out : *** WARNING *** The locale specified by the environment affects sort order. Set LC_ALL=C to get the traditional sort order that uses native byte values.
