If there are no installation sources at all, and the user clicks on 'Check for Updates', the applet terminates completely without explanation. I get a "failed" message from the start script and the machine later basically hangs on everything accessing network. Sometimes i can still shut it down regularly, other times i needed to do sysrq-B.
