Right now, if this parameter is used, then any kernel parameters added at the Open Firmware prompt are discarded. One can edit parameters later during the boot process, but it is not really convenient. The link in /etc/products.d/baseproduct is present. In order to fix the issue of bug #444301 completely I open this bug. The original bug was fixed - this is the remaining issue. If not fixed for 11.1 it will not be possible to restore the default update repository if it was deleted accidentally or missing due to an error or because the system was created from an image. I will attatch a test ycp program that will demonstrate the issue (tested on openSUSE beta5 and RC1). While this may be acceptable during system bootup, it is a blocker during system update. IMHO it should just skip to restart the service, if it gets updated to avoid blocking zypper, YaST and friends. After that I was wondering why NetworkManager successfully connected to the network, but the default route was missing. It turned out that NM used the converted settings of ifcfg-eth0 which looks bogus: BOOTPROTO='static' IPADDR='10.10.100.48/16' BROADCAST='10.10.255.255' STARTMODE='onboot' NAME='NetLink BCM5787M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express' While installing I did _not_ choose to create a static configuration. Sometimes the installation finishes, but sometimes it hangs. I had success when trying to install with the default packages three times in a row. I removed the Novell AppArmor and added some development packages to the installation. With this setup it hang during unpacking of one of the BASE packages. I installed using a DVD and typing "install vnc=1 ssh=1" and the command line prompt. The last message I got on the SOL console was: *** Starting YaST2 *** error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2) This error message also appeared when the installation was successful.
