I'd like to see a package (modified as necessary and tested to play nicely with YaST and other administration tools) added to openSuSE. The RPM file webmin-1.430-1.noarch.rpm at the webmin site installs OK on openSuSE 11.0 and a quick check looks like it mostly works. It may benefit from some tweaking to play nicely with and/or interface with openSuSE specifics such as "firewall" and Novell app-whatever (not used here). Webmin has a nice interface, is usable over an intranet/internet connection for remote administration, and appears to be quite a bit faster than a local YaST session (N.B.!). It tells me that it could not start the process. Opening a new konqueror works, opening a new tab does not. It starts without any obvious reason, i.e. I cannot remember that it is connected to a certain website or action. I think it happens after I left an instance of konqueror idle for some time and then start to work with it again. I also noticed that it starts by loading webpages very, very slowly and then stops to work completely. I could not reproduce this with my local build of 4.1 branch, but that might just be a coincidence since I do not use it that regularly. On issuing iwconfig eth1 essid xyz key 123 ifrenew eth1 no lease would be offered by the AP although the device is shown as connected by the AP. Only after removing all but one WEP keys would the connection take place. Unfortunately, I don't see through this installation/yast2/zypper topic at all and I'm an absolute beginner in these things. But I clearly noticed that these cases almost always lead to dependency conflicts when running "opensuseupdater" or "sudo zypper dup". Isn't there a way improve this, e.g. by making sure that "yast2-packages" are synchronized with "zypper-packages"? If you run the update configuration option, it replaces the old mirror, doesn't tell you what the new mirror is - which could be randomly worse than the old one AND it takes AGEs to do it. Given the amount of time it takes, I would have thought that it would at least figure out a decent mirror. The packaging and update system in suse 10.2 is a LOT worse than 10.0 or even 9.1. It's not just me who thinks that. Things have got a lot slower for very little benefit if any. The yast source selection stuff is also VERY slow. It looks like the directories recently got reorganized and the sources isn't anywhere I can find, either on ftp.opensuse.org, or on download.opensuse.org. The following link, found on http://en.opensuse.org/Development_Version#Downloads, is 404: http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-sourc… I've also looked at http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/suse/ and while there are binary directories, there is no src directory. This is technically a GPL violation, but the main reason why I'm concerned is that I'm about to release e2fsprogs 1.41.2, and I wanted to see if there were any distro-added patches that I should consider adding for the mainline. Could you please fix this, and make sure the relevant pages have the correct pointers to the src directory?
