I followed advice from http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_%28Wireless%29 but without good results. So, looking for errors in the log files I found this: ipw3945: Can't stop Rx DMA. ipw3945: Detected geography ABG (13 802.11bg channels, 23 802.11a channels) ipw3945: 3945ABG card ucode DOWNLOAD FAILED ipw3945: Unable to load firmware: -110 ipw3945: 3945ABG card ucode DOWNLOAD FAILED ipw3945: Unable to load firmware: -110 ipw3945: 3945ABG card ucode DOWNLOAD FAILED ipw3945: Unable to load firmware: -110 ipw3945: 3945ABG card ucode DOWNLOAD FAILED ipw3945: Unable to load firmware: -110 ipw3945: 3945ABG card ucode DOWNLOAD FAILED ipw3945: Unable to load firmware: -110 ipw3945: Unable to initialize device after 5 attempts. ipw3945: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting. So I've updated both ipw3945d and ipw3945.ucode (from http://bughost.org/ipw3945/ ) resolving the problem. The old installed versions were: ipw-firmware: 7.31 (ipw3945-ucode ???) ipw3945d: 1.7.18-29 I've fixed the problem with: ipw3945-ucode: 1.14.2 ipw3945d: 1.7.22 Finally... Maybe I made some errors during the installations but in any case firmware and ipw3945d daemon should be updated in the repository. As I don't have enough expertize, is there anybody that can do it for me? Thanks a lot. Either the path is required, and it never works without, or it's not and it works. Problems have been reported in conjunction with /var being not on the root partition, the script did not wait long enough to /var become writeable. You can easily check whether this is the case by setting the TIMEOUT value in /lib/udev/ipw3945d.sh to 60. However, the bug is rather old and the daemon will be gone in 10.3 anyway. Hence, I close the bug now. The installation started and offered me a SLP source for Alpha7 via the internal tg3 ethernet card. Unfortunately the source wasn't really available under the path and could not get mounted. Instead of inform me about the error the install dialog tried to setup the WLAN interface. IMO this should not happen or the workflow isn't optimal. It should better work this way: - if nfs mount fails: - check if the actual interface is up and if nfs server is available --> if the interface/server is available: - inform the user about the error and stop install ... The log offered by Yast2 says: === System Checking === Checking for /usr/bin/chroot...Passed Checking for chroot directory /mnt...Passed Trying to chroot...Failed It then reports "An error occurred during initrd creation" "Error occured while installing GRUB" Looking at the system using virtual console 2, /dev/sda7, the partition selected for the test installation, was mounted on /mnt and contained the usual directories. /mnt/boot was completely empty. Good move. Bad design although is actually downloading all the data from repos -- please do not do this. Add repos, not data from repos. Reasons: a) user cannot download anything from them at the installation level b) download them (repo data) when user will run soft.management from installed system ad.b) when (b) will occur it could happen that data from installation are outdated and there is need for downloading them again, what the first downloading was for? MAIL FROM-Befehl gescheitert: Syntaxfehler in Parametern oder Argumenten If I use the address in CC field, it works. Trying to use an alternate address as From address works. Translated the message means: Error while executing process: MAIL FROM-Command failed: Syntax error in parameter or arguments Just a guess, but could it be that the hyphen is interpreted as the beginning of a new argument when the mail gets passed a lower level command? I am willing to debug and find this, even it costs some time. Logging out and logging back in via GDM did *NOT* fix the bug. Logging in on a console tty and removing the .ICEauthority* files did fix it.
