The menu is unreadable. It should be nothing special, only a statically linked Qt application. Needing to create a root password like using http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/linux-tutorials-howtos-reference-material/… Or other root password setting methods like bash shell from grub, rescue system. I was able to deublicate this by doing a net install from local NFS shares. During the installation I took my NFS share offline and after a time the installation looked like it had finished. On the reboot there was no root password. I created one and then restarted the installation. Many have waited over 10 hours for an net installation and then can not login. I am not sure what to do. I think this is being caused by all the load on the main/mirrors for installation. I am not sure what can be done. I felf it needed to be reported. As a normal user have no clue there's some binary running somewhere, it's probably a situation in which he is confused and does not know what to do. The sync was performed without errors. I had set the one time operation to copy from the PDA to Evolution Contacts. Following the sync, in Contacts, I only see a small gray box where each contact should be. When deleting each of those items, they are shown only as "Null" value. Following the same procedure with previous versions of SUSE and Evolution worked perfectly. On the positive side, there was a message that warned me to reboot. However, on the negative side: 1. There was no explicit reboot scheduled, so by the time everything was installed, I forgot to reboot. 2. Not rebooting caused autofs to fail because the .dep file for the old kernel was apparently wiped out. This caused me to thrash around a lot until I figured out the problem (autofs failed to start but messages indicated that it started correctly -- maybe another bug report). 3. Apparently the new kernel was not installed in the standard SuSE way as it was not the default -- I had to explicitly choose it from the boot menu. Suggestions: 1. Ask the user if he wants to reboot after everything is installed. 2. Avoid automatically installing kernels if they are going to blow away a previous installation. 3. I don't particularly like the OpenSuSE way of displaying the menu for kernels (It may be nice for dummies, but I would rather see all kernels listed and have the last one installed indicated as the default). That said, given the current way you do things, I think it would be better to install any new kernel as the current one. By default my 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV5M64 [RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro] (rev 15) and Philips Brilliance 107p4 sets the resolution 1280x1024 but when I will change it to 1152x864 - and I - have to (!!! the whole soft screen is not in the monitors screen) - change the soft screen position and resize using sax2 or xfine the changes for moving and resizing the screen are not saved in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so when I will restart X server I still have moved soft screen - so I cant se whole Desktop (see the screenshot - by default sax2 shows the window in pretty much something like that). Selected the Update option and checked the box to "Include Add-on products from separate media". Selected CD as the source, and inserted the Add-on CD after clicking the Eject option, and proceeded with the update. The first time, the installation reported an "Error with installation", and I had to reboot because I couldn't cancel the Add-on option. The second time I tried the update, following the same steps, it went to a black screen after trying to continue the update after inserting the CD, and I had to reboot again. I was able to successfully complete the update by leaving the Add-on option unchecked. I later used the YaST "Add-on Product" option to install what I needed from the Add-on CD.
