Hi @psankar, The same is with me too except that you keeep the channel active in the morning and I do that in the evening. Ravindra, I was having my doubts about saturday night too. However do drop today at evening #opensuse-in. Maybe we can discuss ideas there itself. -- Regards Manu Gupta Just give JUSTICE to life: Besides noticing bad things, also notice all the wonderful things in a thing called Life On Wed, 2010-09-08 at 10:58 +0530, Ravindra Aditya wrote:
Dear all,
i was so delighted to see thumbs up! with your interest and support. i would like to plan first to begin the openSUSE programs at school / college level in major cities. for this, we shall choose some few colleges first. select the right student as a campus representative. select a regional head for those major cities first,he coordinates with campus representatives regarding organizing of tech talks,seminars,hand-on labs, hacking sessions etc:- to make the students get focused on OpenSource, FOSS, OpenSUSE etc:- hence, there is huge impact of the program at the college level which reaches every student zeal towards technology. currently there are many colleges which are in need of these kind of support. if we begin, make the success then hence, part of the mission has been completed. now, drive the entries to FOSS events then start the official make over from there after.! since, the base is strong the program works after a series of events and happenings.
what do you say ???

Agenda : 1) Focus on openSUSE in india (10mins) 2) Hits and Drawbacks (10mins) 3) Plans, Measures for new wave of contributors and users(30 mins) 4) Conclusion (10 mins)
so, what do you say ???
99% of the times, I am the only person in that channel. To be honest, I dont see a need for a meeting. Nor do I see any "wave" of contributors. On a saturday evening, I am very skeptical how many will be joining the meeting. If you have any items that you want to cover, please send it in the opensuse-india mailing list. If we have enough critical mass/traffic in the mailing list, then we can then plan about a meeting.
Also, can you explain the "lack of focus from the core" that you mentioned in your mail ? I believe you overlooked that in my mail.

So, Are you Ready - ??
Thanks for your interest. However, I am more keen to know what kind of support you lacked. Did you try asking in #opensuse-in or the http://groups.google.com/group/opensuse-india group ? We will try to get that fixed. If you have contacted anyone like shayon, manu, cyberorg, kknundy, me and others in IRC, we could've helped you.
We have done some sessions in FOSS.in every year for the last 4-5 years I know of. Last time, the participation was less but still there was a stall manned by Cyberorg and some Novell folks.
We have also been sending DVDs to various places across India (I know I still need to send to Manu)
