Hello suse-linux-e, I am trying to setup an email client to do IMAP against a Groupwise server. I thought I had read that Kmail did that. But yesterday discovered that Kmail does not support IMAP. I would like to stay within the Suse distro but not a show stopper. What email client will do IMAP and has anyone else hooked up to GW via IMAP. I had our administrator turn on POP3 and IMAP so I think it should go. -- Best regards, Gary mailto:gkluther@operamail.com 3838 Beechnut Street #1 East Helena, MT 59635 (406) 227-2240 ...Always proof-read carefully to see if you any words out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If Linux is a cancer, would Windows be tourette's syndrome ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- RRRRR Gary Luther RR RR SAF RR RR UTABEGAS 2500 Broadway RR RR Helena, MT 59602 RRRR gluther@safmt.org RR RR ULE !! KMail in KDE2.2 will support IMAP. It's in beta right now, and works well on SuSE 7.x. Mozilla's built in Email client also supports IMAP, and it's really nice. Good luck, Steven
Mutt and Netscape both support IMAP.

I don't do GW or IMAP, so should probably keep quiet. FWIW, however, I am a big fan of Sylpheed (http://sylpheed.good-day.net), and the version just announced seems to have a lot of IMAP stuff. There is also an active and very helpful mailing list. Regards, Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I agree that sylpheed is about the best of breed on mail clients but found
with
great disappointment that imap is not yet fully supported. For example, I
have
been unable to successfully move messages beween pop and imap account
folders.
Since they indicate that the full rollout of imap is still a ways off, I am
presuming
that features such as this are not yet implemented....(hope I'm wrong and
just being
an idiot).

Hi Paul, As I said, I don't really know enough about imap to be a very helpful contributor this discussion, so I defer to your experience. Are you on the sylpheed mailing list though ? The people there are very friendly and helpful and, though I use only Hiroyuki's official releases, I read much discussion of the experimental features implemented in the claws branch. I am sure that people pn the list and claws contributors would be able to answer your questions. Regards, Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? no, I'm not on the listserv but it is something I should do. I needed a
quick IMAP
solution so for the shortrun I set things up using Netscape...Mozilla is
just maddeningly
slow on my 300mhz/128meg system...go figure, huh? I will follow your good
thought
on the list however...sylpheed does show huge promise and I find it far
nicer than Balsa
and the like...(IMHO)

Just make sure to setup the Groupwise server so it's generic IMAP. I remember Novell using some weird IMAP-lookalike Groupwise protocol. If that is the one, there is no software under Linux with which you can read your mail. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A.
