Hi all, I have an application that requires me to use Xfree86 4.3.99 instead of X.org. I am unsure how to go about downgrading X as there are far too many dependencies. Is this possible with Suse 9.3? The install discs don't list Xfree86 as an option in the install. Would I be able to grab the RPM's from 9.1 and use them to install it? Basically I need to evaluate how long this process will take and how many possible errors I could incur in other applications in doing so. Why? 4.3.99 should be completely compatible with X.org. In fact, I think it was 4.3.99 that was the first version that got renamed to X.org What's it complaining about?

The application is Maya, the requirements are very particular. They've only qualified certain specifications for Suse at all. All of them are for 4.3.99. I've done tonnes of version testing on 9.1 and the application crashes with Signal 11 (unknown signal, this is a openGL signal), if I have upgraded to X.org. This is the exact same problem I've had with Fedora Core and Red Hat, the X version is very important here. It is, but I don't know how that would affect other applications, most
likely not all that much, but you may have difficulty finding that exact
release.
I would contact Maya directly, especially since they are in Toronto. I did
notice that Maya is qualified on SuSE 9.1.
