[opensuse] DVD drive not showing in 11.1, even though I just used it five seconds ago
I seem to have ran into a problem after upgrading to 11.1, after using the DVD drive on my laptop both k3b and kde4-k3b is saying that I don't have a CD/DVD drive installed. Hi I just installed Opensuse 11.1 x86_64 and I was faced with the same issue. I have 2 IDE optical devices: a DVD player and a DVD burner. While K3b recognized the DVD player, it did not see the burner. However, if I inserted a CD/DVD into the burner, it was correctly mounted, and I could see the content using konqueror. So I tried starting K3b as root, and now I could access (and burn !) a DVD using K3b. Thus it looked like a permission problem. I tried to add myself to the disk/wheel/audio groups with no luck. Then I googled, and found that *apparently* there is some kind of bug with KDE 4 and K3b. I logged off, choosed KDE 3.5 and started K3b ! It worked ! K3b now see the DVD burner. I went back to KDE 4 and launched K3b. The DVD burner is correctly seen. Go figure ! Just my 0.02 I wish you all a Merry Christmas Matthias -- / \ /_!_\ My e-mail address has just changed.
