You change ISP if you want direct replies from me. This is the main ISP in Spain. Now goes my answer, on-list.
There are several methods in the wiki to repair a bad download.
Thank you for your suggestion. I ran rsync as described in the wiki The result for the iso I downloaded is: openSUSE-11.1-DVD-i586.iso 4557883392 100% 5.91MB/s 0:12:15 (xfer#26, to-check=46/73). (I've attached the log file to this message.) I'm not quite sure just what it means. I assume that the 100% in the result is that the iso is OK. Is this correct?
Should be. Just check the md5 to be sure.
I have another question for you. I downloaded the iso on my Linux tower. I want to install it on my old laptop (I use it for a test bed). Both computers are on my LAN. The question is if it is possible to install the OS using this setup?
Yes, of course. If the laptop has no dvd unit, you could, for instance, loop mount the downloaded iso file on the tower, export it via nfs, then use that as a source for install on any networked machine, which of course you have to boot somehow first to the install system (network iso cd, for instance). This is on the wiki somewhere, and has been commented on the list recently.
Again, thanks for your assistance. It is much appreciated.
