Nor why it's failing for that matter. Does anybody understand what's going on? [opensuse] Can't connect to eduroam with script Hi,

I'm trying to connect to eduroam wifi with opensuse (I've tried tw and leap), but when I run the script we are provided, it says: Could not continue with credentials collection. On other distros, it pops up a browser so I can authenticate on our sso web page, then sets up the wifi connection. Any idea what that error means or how I can get connected to eduroam with the institution provided script? There are no manual setup instructions for wifi settings here, so I can't do that. [opensuse] printing problems--again

OpenSuse TW. No lectures, please, I'm committed to this. I have been trying to install at least my epson all-mode printer, but things seem to be getting worse, not better. I finally got it to print, but it is printing code, not what it should print. It prints probably the entire driver routine, I don't know what it is! I had to turn off the printer to get it to stop wasting paper. And the error log is about the size of a book. I'd like to de-install this printer, and start from scratch, but I don't know just where to begin. As I mentioned once before, if I can only have one printer working, it has to be this one, so that I can have color and I can scan. iow, IF I can get this to work, I will then try to install the HP laserjet. (That worked, once, until I "installed" the epson--then nothing worked. [opensuse] "Server Not Found - Mozilla"

Firefox was working without problem, but then, for no reason I can discern, I started getting an error page in Firefox when I went to a website: "Server Not Found". At first it was just one website and I could refresh a few times and the page would eventually come up. But the problem became worse. Now I can't get to *any* website at all. [opensuse] Help - Howto Recover SD Card (at least any jpegs still on the card)?

All, I have a trail-cam with a 16G card that I use to monitor the predators coming into the yard so I can keep the cats from getting eaten (long story). This month when I pulled the card, it can't be recognized in any of my readers (Linux or the kids Windows boxes) It is seen and the full 16G is recognized, but blkid reports no filesystem on it. No clue what happened, lightning, low-battery, who knows. But now that leaves me with the problem of how best to try and recover what I can. Do I just image all 16G with dd_rescue and then use a scanner that will recognize the jpeg headers and try a recovery that way. What tool? Instead of dd_rescue, can I just open the device as a raw file and read the number of bytes reported? If I'm just going to scan through it, then I don't see why a dd_rescue write to an image would help. (other than it's multiple attempts to read from each memory location) However, I'm not worried if I miss an image or two because one of the header bytes wasn't read or I get a few off colored pixels. Anybody run into a similar issue and find a decent way to recover what is recoverable? -- David C. [opensuse] Updated mozilla-nss mozilla-nspr caused tearing in FF w/hdw accel with Nvidia driver? Downgrade fixes

All, This is a strange problem I've never seen before. It seems the most recent updates from the mozilla repo for mozilla-nss or mozilla-nspr case problems with the G04 Nvidia driver if force hardware acceleration is enable in firefox. After updates and restarting firefox I check checkering or tearing withing the firefox window. The kenel says xdi 31 -- which is application or driver issue. Downgrading the two packages seems to have solve this. (with Firefox 68.12 esr on 15.0) The downgrade and versions involved are: # rpm -Uvh --oldpackage mozilla-nspr-4.27-lp150.1.1.x86_64.rpm mozilla-nss-3.55-lp150.2.1.x86_64.rpm Preparing... ################################# [100%] Updating / installing... 1:mozilla-nspr-4.27-lp150.1.1 ################################# [ 25%] 2:mozilla-nss-3.55-lp150.2.1 ################################# [ 50%] Cleaning up / removing... 3:mozilla-nss-3.56-lp150.1.1 ################################# [ 75%] 4:mozilla-nspr-4.28-lp150.1.1 ################################# [100%] Force hardware access re-enable in firefox and all is good. I doubt nss has anything to do with it, likely the nspr is the culprit. The issue is only within the firefox window. Nothing else was effected. -- David C. SUSE is the commercial, enterprise system. You say you have downloaded the Epson driver but "not used it." What about the .rpm discussed in a previous thread? Or the install.sh script? So you are saying that you absolutely unequivocally did not install any printer software for that WP-4530 except via YaST/Printer??? And btw, did you try installing the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr package? Your current and earlier (but different) problem symptoms suggest having installed the wrong driver or you are missing a piece (like maybe this package). It appears (from your difficult to decipher posts) that YaST actually sees the device and you installed a driver for it. If there was no driver installed, nothing would happen. That something spits out at all indicates that the print file is being received by the printer. Printing garbage happens for example when a postscript driver is used when the printer only understands a proprietary printer language - as is the case with Epson printers that use the ESC/P-R language (that's what the above epson package is for). I think in one of your earlier posts you also said something about YaST offering print drivers but none matched your printer, right? So then, what did you install? What did YaST "recommend" (that will be shown in the suggested drivers list), and is this what you installed? You also stated earlier that the YaST driver name did not match the printer. Often manufacturers will use a single driver for a given family of printers. E.g., my F4180 uses the F4000 driver. So sometimes the driver name is not an exact match. It's even possible that it could be a generic driver like ghostscript. The manufacturer provided drivers included with openSUSE will all be found in directories under /usr/share/cups/model/. The epson directory located here that you cite above has driver files but there are also epson drivers in all 3 directories under the OpenPrintingPPDs directory, all of these come with the system too. Under /etc/cups is where YaST/Print puts the .ppd driver file. That file is pulled from a compressed .gz file under /usr/share/cups/model. It's possible there could also be a .ppd file put there via a separate installation method. /opt/your epson directory Opt is typically used by 3rd parties. I would be surprised if YaST put Epson files there, but I suppose it's possible. More likely to have been created by something else you used to install with. As far as deleting the printer: The "Delete" button is right there on the YaST/Printer face page, next to "Add" and "Edit". To reinstall, click on Add and let YaST find the printer. If it isn't shown yet, click on Detect More. Evolution was not open at the time so could not have changed the sound. I did it the clumsy way I moved all dot files and directories not related to evolution. Sound returned but I still do not know which one is responsible. So Ill restore them one at a time to test which caused the sound outage. [opensuse] system logs out user

Hello: I've got this very strange problem. The system is openSUSE Leap 42.2, login manager is kdm4, used sessions are KDE3. Usually 2 users are logged in at the same time, one at vt7-KDE3 session, the other at vt8-KDE3 session. The problem is: - first, user1 logs in at vt7, but does not start any application (only logs in) - next, user2 logs in at vt8 and starts to work at vt8. Screen shows user2's session (vt8) - after a short time (1-2min) the desktop switches to vt7, where the login screen is shown. This occurs because the system logs out user1 from vt7 and switches the screen to vt7 by interrupting user2's work at vt8. vt8 session is still usable, user2 can switch back to it (eg by pressing alt+ctrl+F8). This is very annoying. What could be the reason of this behavior, what should I check and change to prevent it? Thanks, Istvan ps: I use kdm4 instead of kdm3 because in Leap 42.2 kdm3 is buggy.
