[opensuse] No sound in Minecraft

I've asked on the minecraft forums without a response so I'm trying here in case that it might be a SuSE configuration issue. I do not have sound in the game. This has been a problem for several versions nowCurently running 1.7.5. I've also tried the last 2 snapshots. I can play music fine and was able to play the sound files in .mineraft/assets/objects/* via Amarok. I have deleted the assets folder and had re-downloaded everything. I looked in the bug list and I found a few sound related issues, but they suggested that there was some sounds. The log only mentions minecraft:mob.witch.idle, but there are no sounds at all in game, but in options everything is set to 100%. I tried to force an older version in profile editor but still no sound going back to 1.4.2. I see a java Playback Stream in the mixer and volume is 100% there too. Any ideas? [opensuse] DenyHosts daemon mode on openSUSE 11.3

Hi, I am trying to run DenyHosts on OS 11.3. I can get it to sync and update the hosts.deny file, but with "rcdenyhosts status" it reports as being "unused" just after I started it with "rcdenyhosts start". I tried also with yast, setting up as a service (daemon) and starting it. It also stops immediately. In the denyhosts.log file there is no error info, just what it used to set it up at start. I've gone through the configs several times, no joy. [opensuse] XFS filesystem total failure on return from hibernation.

XFS fails completely, lots of kernel messages. System has to be restarted, recovery is impossible otherwise. It seems to affect one partition only (?), the one that has my home, on xfs. I booted the 13.1 XFCE rescue image, tried to xfs-repair that one. It complained that there was a log, that I should attempt to mount it first. Mount hung. It is unkillable. Reboot of system hung. smartctl -a gives no hint of problem. The hard disk is new (190 hours). I run "xfs_repair -L" on that disk, which succeeds with no error report. I'm at the moment running the long SMART test on that disk. It will take 226 minutes. As per the subject, IMHO this is the list: 1) BLUETOOTH doesn't works completely 2) Power Management "sucks" with laptops 3) Totem warnings the user to download plug-ins which are not necessary or which cannot get downloaded and installed I consider all the above as limitations in a modern O.S. [opensuse] What is the "official" way to mount floppy in openSUSE 12.x?

Hello: The subject says the question. [In pre 12 suse versions I had a /media/floppy directory where the floppy could be mounted at (by using the floppy icon on KDE3's desktop). In 12.x there is no such directory, and if created it will be removed at next boot, as I know correctly. Of course I could make a floppy dir under / or somewhere else, but I'd prefer its location to be in /media, since floppy is a media. Why should it be then outside of media dir?] What is the official way of mounting floppy in 12.x.? I have openSUSE 12.1 with KDE3 currently. [opensuse] kernel 3.13 and nVidia graphics

Hi there, I tried the kernel 3.13 on openSUSE 13.1 with the proprietary drivers from nVidia. I have problems with suspend to ram, when I wake up the machine I see the mouse cursor, but I cannot unlock the KDE screen lock. The mouse is there, but the screen stays black. And when I switch to a console with alt-ctrl-f1 the screen just stays black, nothing, nada, no prompt, just blank screen. I have to switch back to X using alt-f7. I guess either kernel 3.13 has some issues with nVidia or the nVidia driver has issues. I use nVidia driver version 331.49. Anyone with the same experience? [opensuse] Moving / and /boot partitions

In preperation for a new motherboard, I'm moving my system from a pair of IDE drives to a SATA drive. I have copied all the partitions by using cp -a to the new drive. However I cannot get the system to boot with / and /boot on the new system. I have tried various things including the Yast Boot Loader and grub2-mkconfig, but can't seem to get the new partitions to work. While I realize I could just reinstall to the new drive, I'd prefer to move the existing system over. BTW, with the original Grub, it was possible to have descriptive titles in the boot menu, so that you knew what you were booting. Why isn't this possible with Grub2. This process managed to completely kill my system. However, I suspect it may be a hardware issue. After I could no longer boot my system, I tried to reinstall from DVD. It stops at about 98% and the last lines in details are about preparing the system for initial boot and the last line showing is "Copying log files to installed system". I bought this motherboard about 8 years ago and have always used it with IDE drives. I guess I'll be putting in the new motherboard sooner than planned. Having duplicate filesystem labels or uuids may be a problem as well. Probably grub-mkconfig needs better support for off-root rescue root. [opensuse] libre office + thunderbird --> acces denied to user

Hi everyone! Since about 3 days I encounter a strange situation: When I try to open a file from my home/desktop folder with libreoffice the program says, that the file is protected by "unkown user". I can just open it as a working copy or ready-only. Also Thundebird replied, that it is not possible to safe the new e-mails to the disc. Strangly, after a restart, tb worked fine, but libreoffice still has the same problem. Acutally i didn´t make any changes on my system, beside an update…Might this be a security issue?
