boot from /dev/hdd not yet supportet?

Hi! After installing suse linux 7.0 on my G4 on a second harddisk I want give lilo.conf the alternative drive /dev/hdd to boot MacOs. After starting "lilo" the following error-massage was displayed: "/dev/hdd not yet supportet". Is there any solution for this problem without changing my Mac-Boot-Device? Thank you! N.Schaefer von... SSH 2

Oki, I was trying to install SSH 2 on my linuxbox, using SuSE 7.0 (ppc). I had to compile the source and it went fine, then when I tried to start the damn thing the following error came: sshd2: SSH Secure Shell 2.4.0 (non-commercial version) on powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu FATAL: Received signal 11. But when I installed version 1.X somthing, then it worked with no problems. Any ideas??? Markús

upgrade chip

My installation of Suse Linux 7.0 PPC edition fails as it is trying to install k_pmac.rpm package. This stops the installation of the rest of the system and I am only able to use linux in text mode (no X-windows) when I get it operating. I have a blue and white G3 Macintosh with a 400 MHz G4 upgrade chip from Newer Technologies, this may be an issue. I was hoping soneone else had tried installation with an upgrade so I could rules this out as the problem (or in, as the case may be. Thanks. Problems installing Suse 7 (ppc) via expert mode.

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone of you guy's had any problems installing suse 7.0 (ppc) via expert mode, cause I ran into some problems last night. The ehing is that I think that the expert mode sisn't install all the files I selected to be installed, and it never asked for other cd's than number one. I had to manually install from cd 2 and 3. And still after that there was alot of software missing... Any ideas? Markús

I try to configure Suse PPC-Linux 6.04 on my 7600/300 MHz. The problem is, that I cannot find a keyboard in SAX, which can be matched to my hardware Keyboard Modell KB106MD (MICROSPEED). Multiple monitor support in Suse 7 (ppc)

Has anyone been able to get multiple monitor support to work in suse 7.0? I have a beige G3 with two ATI 128 Orion cards driving two 17" displays; this all works fine in OS9 and OSX PB. I used SaX2 to configure XF86 4.01 for one monitor and it worked fine (within the limits of the tricky user interface provided by SaX2). It identified both cards and allowed me to configure them, but never displayed the second monitor icon on the last panel (which arranges the relative monitor positions). I then tried to edit XFConfig manually, removing all the modelines except for the two that I wanted to use (I generated the modelines from the single monitor setup for each display resolution). I changed the other XFConfig entries to drive each monitor in turn, but only my main monitor worked. I was unable to get any response from the second monitor no matter what I did. I would rather use SaX2 to do all this. Has anyone gotten it to work? Thanks. Problems configuring the tape drive /dev/nst1

Hi. I've got SuSE 7.0 for PPC installed on my RS/6000 and I have a problem with my second tape drive. I'm not very skilled on Linux and I don't know how to install a new tape, but with the SuSE installation it is automaticaly. I can obtain information from the first tape by typing: mt -t /dev/nst0 status The second tape ( /dev/nst1) is an external scsi tape and when I try to get the tape status... mt -t /dev/nst1 status I get the following error: mt: /dev/nst1: Device not configured I don't know how to configure the device. I don't know if it is not configured because it doesn't work property or because I do have to configure it. Can anybody give me any advice or any website where I can get some help? Hi, I installed Suse 7.0 on my G4 PowerMac. I have made a swap Partition, but Linux doesn´t recognises it as a swap Partiotion. How can I change the Partition ID on PPC-Linux? Thanks Claus Teubner
