keyboard layout is missing from the system tray. So this one should be restored too. currently you have to go to system settings to change the keyboard layout, use a shortcut (but without a visual confirmation about what layout is valid). This is quite a showstopper on a production machine if you work with a lot of different layouts (languages).
That's the KDE way, and it should work even without setting up a keyboard shortcut. Which particular "keyboard layout" icon are you missing? If it's ibus, I think that's been fixed already, but I'm not sure at the moment. Oh, and btw, what's a "Desktop 4-16.3"? @Hrvjoe: it seems that libappindicator* still isn't installed by default, neither in Tumbleweed nor in Leap. I suppose that's something we should do. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have installed leap as beta and updated to one day before the release of RC1. I do not know if the patch is already there. Yes I think this should be installed by pattern as most people will not know how to handle the problem.
It's not a patch, it is a separate package. It wasn't there yet in Beta1, but it is there in RC1 and Current. At the moment it is not installed by default, you have to install it manually. Hrvoje submitted a new plasma5-workspace package though that requires it (thanks!), so it will be installed by default in the final release. I suppose we can close this bug report then...
That said: installing with zypper up all the patches you notice that: the grafical rappresentation of the networkmanager icon is missiong. A space is there. If you join one manually with add object to task bar, it is there, works so so but is crippled because does not open the mini popup when you click or hover over it.
This bug report is actually about system tray *icons* missing (because Plasma5 doesn't support the old/ancient XEmbed system tray icons any more, only the SNI protocol that got introduced in 2009 already), not system tray plasmoids. I can confirm your problem, but it's not specific to plasma-nm5, it rather can randomly happen with *any* plasmoid it seems. I mainly see it with plasma5-pa here, but have had plasma-nm5 missing as well already. Btw, if the icon shows up (also if you make it show up via enabling/disabling another plasmoid), it should work normally and not be "crippled", at least it does here in 13.2/KF5. Anyway, this is a known problem, and is currently being investigated upstream: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352580 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am so sorry, but after a complete shutdown and a restart the system tray icon is gone as before, patch or not. Sorry for giving you false hope.
Which one, the NetworkManager? Again, this is a system tray applet, and completely unrelated to support for legacy system tray *application icons* missing. So it's also unrelated to and not fixed by xembed-sni-proxy. KDE dropped support for legacy system tray application icons, xembed-sni-proxy adds it back. Applets randomly not being displayed is an unrelated problem, it is known and being investigated, see comment#14. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
