Hello:
In openSUSE Leap 42.2 I want the num lock to be switched on either during boot or when kdm4 login manager starts. That is when I have to give my password I want the num lock to be turned on. Currently it's turned off when kdm4 login
screen appears. I tried to change this by: Have you tried Systemsettings5/Input Devices/Keyboard ?
No, because I don't have KDE5/plasma5. Furthermore NumLock is turned on if I login to my session, my question was about the login manager.
Ok, sorry about that, didn;t read close enough and i'm on tumbleweed. I checked my BIOS and I also do not have a setting to change/set Numlock either but numlock is on when kdm is loaded and awaiting input and flicks off and back on when i actually log in. When I run Yast/Hardware/System Keyboard Layout and press <Expert Settings>, it comes up (in the Startup State box) as "Num Lock On" and the drop down box is set to "BIOS settings". Have you checked the setting in Yast / System using /etc/sysconfig Editor Hardware/Keyboard/KBD_NUMLOCK ? Here's whats in my kdmrc related to numlock in the Greetings section. # What to do with the Num Lock modifier for the time the greeter is running: # "Off" - turn off # "On" - turn on # "Keep" - do not change the state # Default is Keep #NumLock=Off
Thanks,
Istvan
