My HP AMD quad core multimedia laptop has a better than average radeon

There are, at least near as I can find, no Catalyst drivers available.
Only the crappy ones built in.
Catalyst has been deprecated for over a year. Mesa is doing rather well lately, and is
perfectly capable of running (for example) AAA games with high graphics settings; why do
you say it "sucks"?

Finally, this is an openSUSE mailing list so your experiences with Kubuntu
aren't necessarily relevant.

We are both using KDE with Plasma. I suppose it is possible that OpenSuse has added different drivers to KDE than what Kubuntu uses.

The drivers included in KDE/Plasma barely make the graphics work. It's really kind of hard to explain. When switching from one window to another sometimes the new window opens completely and other times it only partially opens. Parts of the old window still show. It's just a total mess. In 14.04 and Catalyst the graphics are fantastic.

Fast is fine, but accuracy is final.
