Is it safe to install KDE and Gnome on the same system? Will it break things? What is the best practice.
Why wouldn't it be? What do you imagine the risks or breakage to be?
You can install ALL the Window Managers on a single system if you want. I wouldn't try to log into all of them at the same time though :-)
OK I installed KDE running this command: sudo zypper install -t pattern kde4 kde4_basis and now when I log into KDE I don't get plasma workspace. All I get is a white desktop. No Panel nothing.
