Hi Rajko & List, Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not help.. I had already put the preview size to maximum (something like 100 MB). In digikam, even if I right-click the image and choose edit, I get the same error. In order to debug this, I started digikam from the command line and got lots of output, some of which says the following: -------------------- digikam(25518)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::slotDirWatchDirty: KDirWatch detected change at "/home/user/.google" digikam(25518)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::slotDirWatchDirty: KDirWatch detected change at "/home/user/Pictures/digikam4.db-journal" digikam(25518)/digikam (core) Digikam::CollectionScanner::scanAlbum: Folder does not exist or is not readable: "/home/user/Pictures/digikam4.db-journal" ------------------- .. so is the database file corrupt or something? ------------------- digikam(25518)/digikam (core) Digikam::AlbumManager::slotDirWatchDirty: KDirWatch detected change at "/home/user/Pictures/digikam4.db-journal" digikam(25518)/digikam (core) Digikam::DImg::load: "/home/user/100OLYMP_3/P3070005.JPG" : JPEG file identified digikam(25518)/digikam (core): Wrong JPEG library version: library is 80, caller expects 62 ------------------- .. are my images encoded with older version of jpeg and digikam does not recognize them? Sounds a bit absurd.. I would expect backward compatibility from digikam. Regards, Sampsa On Monday 12 April 2010 01:35:47 am Rajko M. wrote:

I have a weird problem with digikam 0.10.0 (running on kde 4.4.1, OS 11.2). When clicking those small icons and trying to view the bigger image, no bigger image appears, but simply a text saying
"Cannot display preview for XXX.JPG"
In Dolphin - Settings > Configure Doplhin > General > Previews (Tab) "Maximum file size" is set to 5 MB here.
I guess that default is 2 MB which can be small for images that current camera models can produce.
