Hi Martin et al,
OK thanks I now know where to look. BUT color me dumb I don't know what to do from here. Could you tell me how to tell YaST to allow jDownloader to work?
The opensuse firewall does not stop outgoing connections, only incoming. And then, it is not configured per application, but per port.
You have to determine, reading the documentation of jDownloader, what ports it needs opened. I don't use that app, so I don't know.
Ok, I get this. But my question is how to open port 9666. I've never used YaST to do this and its not clear.
Go to 'allowed services', hit 'advanced', enter the port(s) in tcp (or udp) - they're space separated - hit OK, Next, Finish
As long as you don't need complicated stuff, the YaST interface to configure SuSEfirewall is pretty simple.
