Hello:
I can not mount removable media (CD, DVD, USB drive) in openSUSE 11.2. I am using KDE 3.5.10 from KDE repo (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.2/). When I insert media the system recognizes it correctly and places the corresponding icon on the desktop. (DVDs and audio CDs can be played.) But when I try to mount/open the device I get the following error message: "org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable auth_admin_keep_always <-- (action, result)" in a window titled "Error - kio_media_mounthelper". Googling resulted in some similar issues in 11.1 however I could not find a working solution. What I learned is that the problem probably is related to policy permissions. One more thing that also might be related (but I'm not sure): in YAST->Security and users->Local security->Predefined security configurations is set to "custom settings" and I can not change it. Even if I click to either "home workstation" or "networked workstation" the new setting is not conserved, it is reset to "custom setting".
Any hint or idea how to fix this?
Try polkit-action --reset-defaults org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable as root.
Thanks, Istvan
