Just a small report on this... I just did a clean install of 11.1 on a new hard drive with a clean/empty home directory. Steps I followed: - Install 11.1 with KDE4.1.3 defaults plus gcc, and kernel sources. - Once the desktop is loaded, start YaST and add the Community repositories - Open Firefox and go to the KDE4 Wiki page. - Click the One-Click install for KDE4.3 Factory At this point I got exactly 2 dependency resolve questions... one on amarok yuap for Amarok 1.4 - which can be removed since Amarok 2 doesn't need/use it, and one for Digicam (I think it was just the plugins rpm) which I also removed. That was it. The update ran, and exited cleanly. Then I killed the X session, logged in at CLI and removed the .kde directories from my /home (I did this to force a full clean start for KDE4) and it's working perfectly now with 4.3.0 (release 158). So it's definitely possible to update from 4.1.3 to 4.3.0 on a clean install and have it go very smoothly. I've also done incremental updates from 4.1.3 through the 4.1 to 4.2 to 4.3 releases, and that' was not so smooth.. mainly due to the massive changes in the rc configuration files from one major release to the next - although the fix was relatively easy by simply removing the rc files after each major update.
