Can I take the dvd iso and copy the contents of it (unpack it?) Not unpack, you mount it using loop device - e.g.
"mount -o ro,loop <isofile> opensuse-11.1"
Then you export the mount point 'opensuse-11.1'. Then what? How does one use that for an install ... or repository?
Boot the client from the net install cd or a usb stick or the dvd hit f4 and choose nfs. That's it. L x
Yes, that is all there is to it.
The option not mentioned is a PXE based boot if your network cards support PXE. The ISO image is loop mounted on a Server machine and machines boot from it across the network. (One interesting side effect is that the networked ISO image can be subsequently used for other operations). See... http://en.opensuse.org/SuSE_install_with_PXE_boot and the earlier/// http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Network_Installation_of_SuSE_Linux_via_PXE_Boot there was an issue with the tftpd setup when I tried it. (IIRC Under 10.2 tftpd RPM did not create the relevant tftpd account). - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
