I have been on holiday and while I was away I turned the machine off. Today I turned it on and did the usual updates. It said I needed to reboot with a new kernel. Since then I have been unable to use the machine.

How do I get a working machine back?

If you live in a humid environment, try the following: open up your computer. un plug and plug back in all your cards and memory sticks. no need to pull the cpu out of the socket. unplug and plug back again all your disk connectors / cables. try starting the system. turning a computer on after a few days off In a hot & humid environment is often troublesome. the reason is micro corrosion at the connectors; i have to reseat my connectors almost every time my computers stay off for more than a couple of weeks, especially during the wet months of the Hawaiian year. The hard drive connectors are the most troublesome. good luck, d. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
