My text only server for nfs, nis and squid is running 10.3. Would I gain anything upgrading to 11.0?
Thanks. L x
Most likely not.
I have a couple of similar servers plus my desktop. My goal is to keep everything running a supported release.
I upgrade my desktop first as a sort of test. Then I upgrade one of the servers a couple months later. I rotate the server upgrades to be off by one.
So currently I have one server at 10.2 and one at 10.3, and my desktop has been at 11.0 for a few weeks.
10.2 will be loosing security updates at some point (Dec. 2008?) Prior to that I will upgrade that server to 11.0, but if for some unforeseen reason it has issues, I can back off to 10.3 which has been running my other server for the better part of a year.
FYI: The above gives me reasonable testing and I do a 100% backup of the servers before I upgrade them so if I have to revert I can do so.
