Hi list,
no offense, it looks great - but I'll wait a little...
Someone set up a SuSE11 with KDE4 on, I need KDE3,5 standard instead. I installed (Using YaST) KDE35, but when loggin in I still get the -4 desktop. Where do I kill (for all users and for good to avoid problems to come) this 4?
I tried to remove it from within YaST, but I don't know how to handle the smiley...
I don't have my 11.0 machine up, but I posted the solution in another post concerning kde4 on vnc within the last 20 days. Basically, make sure you use the /opt/kde3/bin/startkde to start 3.5 as default. If you are using the /usr/bin/startkde, you are starting kde4. <quote> from the 6/22 post: So if we want kde3, we start /opt/kde3/bin/startkde and if we want 4 we use /usr/bin/startkde. tighvnc issue solved. The question remains, can I start the kde4 desktop with /usr/bin/startkde and run in on top of kde3.5 without any weird consequences biting me? </quote> And, yes, you can start the kde4 desktop on top of kde3.5, but it does cause problems. It looks cool until things go south. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
