No my card has 512 MB RAM.
When i open "NVIDIA X Server Settings", and then select "GPU 0- (Geforce 8600 GT)" i get the Graphics Card Information and there i can see that i have 512 MB. Just like on the box where the card was in when i bought it :)
My new card likewise shows 512 MB in the nVidia X Server Settings application.
