What can we do to improve SuSE? Look at the user experience from Ubuntu. I try to play an MP3 file and with 1 click it will install the MP3 codec. Opensuse will just take me to a wiki page where I click a link or two and then it adds packman and installs the package. Too much of a hassle -- some people don't read and thus could get frustrated.
Don't dream, that feature will not be added. Novell (lawyers) understands it is illegal, and that's final. The roundabout 1 click install we have is the closest thing possible.
For a detailed explanation, browse the archives and the wiki, it has been explained many, many times. That's the problem indeed.
Ubuntu is a community only driven project - no company to sue, but Novell is a big company with money to take.. (and well, I guess there are quite a few companies which would like to sue Novell). However they could try to get some sort of legal contract with the Frauenhofer Institut (cause most people doesn't care about the legal problems - they want to hear their music..), or at least an agreement that allows them to ship the codecs. (Who's taking this idea to novell? Someone on the list who's working in Nürnberg? :) ) Greetings Michael
