You are attempting to use a swap device that does not exist. Correct that.
So should I change the kernel command parameters in the boot config/menu.lst to point to /dev/sdc5 which is the swap partition defined in fstab?
Yep, sure.
How could this get corrupted in the first place?
Gremblins! .-p
Run manually mk_initrd, and see if there are errors.
or will running the above fix this as well?
Probably.
Is there any chance that the system will become unstable with the above command?
It shouldn't. Cars run, the vcr record movies, the computer runs... usually. Can your mechanic ensure you that the car will not break down any time? :-p - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
