I really wish someone would remove that parameter from rpm
Lesser of two evils? OP was going to make a fake package to satisfy the deps. I'd think it better to have them missing than something that says it is X but actually not. --force Honestly, I don't know anything about it, accept that if I am trying to get something in simply to test somethings else, and it complains, force it. I assume from your strong reaction, this must create / cause something that can't be undone, forseen, or otherwise deviates from being able to undo any side-effects with rpm -e 'same package that was forced'. I guess I'll use it with a little less impunity. Maybe more of an explanation instead of 'Because I said so'?
