Has anyone installed KDE4 yet ? Is it stable and does KMail behave itself ?
No, it's not complete, let alone stable. Unless you are a coder the KDE 4 packages there are today are useful only so you will be able to say "coo, haven't they come a long way?" in a couple of months' time. It's not even useful for you to report bugs against them yet.
We're currently having a KDE 4 hack week (see my blog on kdedevelopers.org or the news item on news.opensuse.org about it) to give it all some concentrated love but as a .0 is a major refit, there's lots still to do - it's not something like KDE 3.5, which was usable at alpha1 stage.
That's me telling it the way it is, it's not behind schedule, but neither will I raise inaccurate expectations of where we are today.

OK, thanks for your update. The reason I was asking is that in YAST there seems to be quite a few KDE4 files/apps loaded from GUI/KDE. Are these needed in KDE3 ? Could these be the source of some of the instabilities that some of us are seeing with the PC locking up so tight that the only way out of it is to reset ? -- Kindest regards, Clive. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/c.rogers/ Fighting for darker skies.
