Now that you guys have started to get your boxed sets, I would like to tell you a little story. Once upon a time a distro was released on Dec 7th, the parent company eager to impress it's friends, had it's internal auditors check the distro for its readiness, it did an md5sum check, a check for installation errors in it's test lest lab, checked for obvious "stop" errors, checked all it's legal obligations and decided it was OK to "press". The distro was then sent to the "pressroom" where it was loaded to 100+ duplicators, and the artwork for the disk label was setup on it's press and some tests where run, maybe the label wasn't straight or the duplicators overheated but there was some "minor" delay maybe a day or so but the "presses" began to produce. Then the packaging line started up, "fill up the slip cover machine, start the box folder, warm up the shrink wrapper" said the foreman. by late in the day on December 15th they had their first truckload ready to go, a whole working week after the distro was "released"!, an amazing effort considering their competition has delayed it's new release for months and this distro has had two full releases in the same time frame and the competition still needs a month to go. but the story isn't over you see, this little distro was still in trouble and was going to be delayed again, You see it was X-mas time and all the mean shipping people couldn't get to pickup that first truckload for a couple of days. they where to busy bringing all those nasty x-mas presents and holiday gifts. This meant that the first truckload wouldn't get picked up until Tuesday the 19th, "oh no!" cried the distro's production foreman, "we are not going to make it out this week, it's X-mas!" he said. But much to his surprise on Thursday the 21st of December with the next trailer load ready and waiting and there pulled up a UPS truck to hall it away, and the same for the next day and even Saturday the 23rd, but still not everyone or even hardly anyone got their copy until after X-mas. :( this made a lot of little boys and girls sad, but when they got their new distro and saw all the new and improved features, they all lived happily ever after! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
