So far I think it is VERY beneficial for Linux, 1. Microsoft is giving away 70.000 SUSE Linux Enterprise coupons 2. Microsoft is backing up (legally speaking) the MONO, Samba and Open Office projects and any Open Source programmer or company that works on OpenSuse.org projects. 3. Microsoft is telling everybody that if they want to use Linux they support SUSE Linux! 4. They are jointly developing Open Source Virtualization software Could it be better? You have to ask why?
Every company which ever engaged in a so-called 'sharing' agreement with the POS company (M$) is either out of business or suffered huge financial losses (Remember the IBM back-stabbing? remember stacker?) because of it.
Not to mention that everthing the POS comapny gets its hands on becomes a pile of crap is short order.
Plus based on the POS company's track record they are simply not to be trusted, lies are their native tounge.
Fedora6, ubuntu, even yoper Linux are all looking pretty good right about now.
