Before switching to Linux I was very very used to winamp and it's Global Hotkeys. So I could easily do my work and, for example, change song without being forced to switch to winamps window.
XMMS replaced nearly all features I have been used in Winamp, but I still very very miss GH feature.
Is there any plugin, or maybe it could be done with shell scripting?
Thanks in advance,
Sergey
Sorry, I don't know about XMMS, but when converted from Windows/WinAmp, I started using Amarok, which (after getting used to the differences) in my opinion is way superior (but your mileage may vary). It has global hotkeys defined for all common functions, and using DCOP and KDE, I have even added a few, like popping up the lyrics for the current song etc.
But of course this doesn't answer your question, just a suggestion.

Hi Marius, Thank you very much, actually I tried it, but XMMS seems to be simpler and more practical one, in my opinion of course, anyway if i will not find something for XMMS I will consider using amaroK again :) Regards, Sergey -- Sergey Mkrtchyan Scientific Researcher Department Of Molecular Physics, Faculty Of Physics, Yerevan State University -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
