Hi Steve,
Is there anyway I can convert DVD's (movies) into something I can edit? Or is there a way of editing them as is?
I usually use avidemux2 for editing video files. Be sure to install all available codecs. Add Packmans repository in order to accomplish this.
Hi Rui
Excellent advice. Thanks.
Packman selected various other files to install when I chose avidemux including a codec rpm. Are these the codecs you mention? Or are there others I'd need?
Probably yes. But you can always search and, if it is a codec, install it. If what you need is mpeg to mpeg than definitely yes.
Basically, all I want to do is take the mini dvd out of my Sony Handycam and 1. Cut clips from it and 2. turn the clips into something I can put on the 'net for download. I'm slowly wading through the docs but do you know of a step by step which will help me get started with this?
Try http://www.doom9.org/ . Also try avidemux2 home page. http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/ Both of them have nice tutorials.
TIA Steve.
