It was a mistake to implement the new management when beta3 was allready out. We have learned from it and it will not happen again. At this moment the SUSE-team is working hard on it and we hope it will be fixed soon.
Right, it was a mistake, but when this will be fixed (and I think the SUSE-team will fix it in near future), I can say for myselve, SUSE Linux 10.1 is the best SUSE I ever had.
Full ACK. The NetworkManager is just sensational (just adding some effort to the VPN section and this tool will become perfect). The only problem I ran into were the graphical tools of the package management. If I use them, the zmd process will crash. Then I did the following: - Kill all zmd processes - Delete /var/lib/zypp/cache/* - rczmd start - rug sd all (<- actually you have to delete each on its own) - rug sa --type yum <your-mirror> sl-10.1 - rug sa --type yum <your-mirror> sl-10.1-non-oss - rug sa --type yum <packman-mirror> packman - rug sa --type yum <suser-guru-mirror> suser-guru - rug sa --type yum <update-mirror> sl-10.1-updates - rug sub -a Afterwards, everything worked as long as I do not use any graphical mono tool. Even installing packages with YaST works. If the updater shows the exclamation mark, I use "rug update" to update the system. Only problem with rug: It's extremly slow. Installing a small package takes about 3-4 minutes. Installing is actually not slow but preparing and finishing is. BTW, I updated from 10.0 to 10.1 using YaST with all repos mentioned.
