OK. But a which gcc_4.1 installation phase can I rename the binaries ? Usually rpm files are pre-compiled. I won't have control on the source code therefore on the binary code. Thank you, Maura On Tue, 11 Apr 2006, Guillermo Ballester Valor wrote:

OK. Thanks. How shall I uninstall the current 3.x gcc version ? Is there any reason why I should keep old and new versions ?
What you name 'old' is actually the compiler of your SuSE distribution. The 'new' is a secondary compiler.
I only would uninstall the 3.x version if I have no more disk space.

My laptop has limited disk capacity ...
Thanks for all your help.
