Can anyone suggest how to set the Gtk font?
If you do it once with gnome-control-center, you can then find the files in ~/.gconf where these settings get housed by gcc, and make further changes manually if you like.
Thanks for that. Sadly, I don't have any of Gnome installed. Is there any way without having to install more software?
gnome-control-center and its deps won't terribly penalize people with a reasonable amount of freespace on /. You could install it, run it a bit, then uninstall. There are other options for Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit http://www.mozilla.org/unix/dpi.html If you really want to try doing it the hard way, as a starting point, here's ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/font_rendering/%gconf.xml: <?xml version="1.0"?> <gconf><entry name="antialiasing" mtime="1123874613" muser="username" type="string"><stringvalue>grayscale</stringvalue></entry><entry name="hinting" mtime="1123874613" muser="username" type="string"><stringvalue>medium</stringvalue></entry><entry name="dpi" mtime="1123874624" muser="username" type="float" value="120"/></gconf> and ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/interface/%gconf.xml: <?xml version="1.0"?> <gconf><entry name="font_name" mtime="1123874662" muser="username" type="string"><stringvalue>Sans 11</stringvalue></entry><entry name="monospace_font_name" mtime="1123874684" muser="username" type="string"><stringvalue>Sans 11</stringvalue></entry></gconf> -- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
