Running SUSE Linux 10.0, x86. For some unknown reason the very obvious ping6 didn't worked:
linux:~ # ping6 fe80:0:0:0:20f:eaff:fed2:4e88 connect: Invalid argument
any ideas why? (quick look at Google and man didn't helped)
It's been a a while since I've done it, but I seem to recall you have to specify which address or port you're sending from. With IPv6, you actually have multiple IPs.
The interface (-I option) should be specified when ping6 is used for IPv6 local address. --- this should work ------- ping6 -I eth0 fe80:0:0:0:20f:eaff:fed2:4e88
